And they thought a global pandemic would stop us?? Jokes on them. We are back, with another online launch.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this year’s album was mostly recorded in bedrooms and home studios, with extra recording done in CONTACT Studio in Rua Red Arts Centre in Tallaght in late March and early April. The young musicians aged 14-18 years-old worked from October to April writing, arranging, recording and performing new material. These songs were created in song writing sessions, rehearsals and workshops that took place online and, for one glorious week in December, in Rua Red.
We cannot stress enough how impressed and proud we are of all of our participants, who as always, have exceeded our expectations and despite the obstacles that this year has thrown at us, managed to write, record and collaborate on some of the best tunes we’ve heard in SubSounds history!
A video featuring live performances from some of the participants will launch this years album over on our Youtube channel at 7:30pm on Friday the 4th of June. The link to this video is below.
We’re so excited for you all to finally hear all of the songs! We know you’ll all love them as much as we do. If you would like to purchase the album you can do so through the bandcamp link below.
The SubSounds Class of 2021 album was written and arranged between November 2020 and April 2021 by the members of SubSounds Music Collective. The collective is a partnership between Alternative Entertainments, Music Generation South Dublin and South Dublin County Council Arts Office.
